Zinc stearate
Zinc stearate is a white fine powder with a pleasant smell. Insoluble in water, ethanol and ether, but soluble in hot ethanol, turpentine, benzene and other organic solvents and acids. It is lubricating, hygroscopic, non-toxic, slightly irritating, pollution-free and non-hazardous. Melting point 128-130 °C(lit.), boiling point 240 °C [at 101 325 Pa], density 1.095g/cm ³, vapor pressure 0Pa at 25 °C, flash point 180 °C.It is used in the formulation of industrial, curing oils and lubricants, and also serves as a paint desiccant.
It is used as a softening and lubricant for rubber products, a polishing agent for textiles, and a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride plastics.
It is used as a dispersant and heat stabilizer for color masterbatches of polyethylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride and high-grade chemical fibers in the petrochemical industry. It is used as a heat stabilizer, dispersant and lubricant for color masterbatches (granules).
